Unit 10 Blog Recap Unit 3 and summary

  1. Review your unit 3 personal assessment of your psychological, physical, and spiritual well-being. Reflect on these areas. How did you score yourself on a scale from 1 to 10 in unit 3? How do you score yourself now? Has the score changed? Why or why not?

I scored myself 9-10, I feel I am in the best shape of my life. I still rate myself the same. I did find out that I must keep a close eye on my health; things like my vitamin and minerals. I fractured my right posterior upper rib without the type of impact that should cause such an injury. That was a big eye opener and painful while resting.

  1. Review the goals and activities you set for yourself in each area. Have you made progress toward the goals? Explain.

I am consistently working towards my goals becoming a fitness entrepreneur and I would like to get in to women's bodybuilding. This class has allowed me to concentrate on those goals while realizing patience is acquired and can be acquired through belief in self, the understanding of self physically and mentally, and welcome challenges as they come.

  1. Have you implemented the activities you chose for your well-being in each of the three areas? Explain.

I have not implemented the silk training yet; in January I plan to achieve this goal training in gymnastics. I have found a gymnastic center that is willing to training adults so I will pay for that and that will fulfill my commitment in that category . I have not found a dance studio to my liking so I am still working on that-- in the meantime I am reading and training my body myself right now.

  1. Summarize your personal experience throughout this course. Have you developed improved well-being? What has been rewarding? What has been difficult? How will this experience improve your ability to assist others?

Summarizing, this course has been beneficial in keeping me sane. My life has changed dramatically since my forced retirement from the Army (due to doctrines changes). I was not ready to retire and it has been a tough year. In assisting others I will be able to understand an individual struggle with change and understand what it takes to develop the understanding, courage, and sacrifices as a person to make change. Happy Holidays everyone.

Unit 9, Overview

  1. Introduction:
Why is it important for health and wellness professionals to develop psychologically, spiritually and physically?

As a health and wellness professional we all are mentors and coaches to those who are seeking a healthier way of living. It is our responsibility to teach individuals how to develop a holistic, mind and by the approach to medicine that looks at good health as a balance of physical and mental well-being. As a health and wellness professional I would have an individual to look at their health today and asked me where they would like for it to be. I think I should become their motivator teaches them self-management skills and I will provide education and the know-how to help them improve their well-being.

What areas do you need to develop to achieve the goals you have for yourself?

I would need to further my psychological skills for developmental counseling. I am aware of the different problem-solving methods to use during counseling but to reach integral health I would need to practice this and use it in my personal life in order to put in motion in someone else's life. For example, achieving loving-kindness, and calm-abiding which are important steps for integral health. I must further my education – self meditating, self-centering, and listening skills that will tap into the internal mind; almost like the all seeing eye. I have been practicing more involvement in to placing these practices in my personal. I'll start with my family and friends.

  1. Assessment:
How have you assessed your health in each domain? How do you score your wellness spiritually, physically, and psychologically?

Scoring my wellness spiritually, psychologically and physiologically can be done by taking evaluation that encompasses questions on how I feel that will evaluate stressor with-in my life. I have done this in previous classes and my score were quite high as far as financial stress.  Physically there is a stress from too much working out due to my occupation as a group fitness professional but its balance psychologically mindful exercises and practices such as yoga, tai chi, things that focuses on the breathing that stimulates the body internally and helps relaxes the mind. By teaching yoga there are exercises and stretching that stimulate certain organs within the body and this in turn send signals or electronic pulses to the brain that relaxes the body. According to the fitness professional handbook, fifth edition written by Howley and Frank's mindful exercise programs include qigong, tai chi, and yoga all of which work more flexibility and breathing techniques which introduces the benefits of mindful exercises and possibly rehabilitation. So to assess my own ability to reach integral health I do practice a form of mindful exercises by teaching yoga and participate in tai chi classes hoping to reach an internal balance of self a wellness and I can pass this onto my clients.

  1. Goal development:
List at least one goal you have for yourself in each area, Physical, Psychological (mental health) and Spiritual.

Physical – maintain recommended body mass index through regular exercising. This goal has been achieved.

Psychological – become more mindful of yoga practices and its purpose doing classes. Learn how to focus and center my energy with-in to wake up the inner healing powers of my body through self-stimulation (more meditation and acquired environment and by the use of soothing music).

Spiritually – I'm not very strong in this area. I believe in all God's, meaning I have respect of each person's religion. Although spiritually being connected with self may not necessarily mean believing in one's religion but understanding the eternal balance of knowledge that focuses on the responsibility that teaches one to be accountable for themselves, through motivation, self-inspiration, and encouragement.

Practices for personal health:
What strategies can you implement to foster growth in each of the following domains; Physical, Psychological, and Spiritual. Provide at least two examples of exercises or practices in each domain. Explain how you will implement each example.

As previously mentioned Yoga, Pilates, in Tai chi are exercises used to reach a physical, psychological, and spiritual connection with self. These exercises can be implemented within a regular exercise regime or the practice of incorporating at least 30 to 45 minutes of your day either when you wake up, maybe doing lunch, or before you go to bed. A mindful practice includes meditation – setting quietly using breathing techniques, to soothe the mind and body or soothing music or recorded voice of instructions could help with this practice.

  1. Commitment:
How will you assess your progress or lack of progress in the next six months? What strategies can you use to assist in maintaining your long-term practices for health and wellness?

Progress can be assessed through individual's quality of life. A person resting heart rate could be an indicator of improvements, how one balances day-to-day interactions with others negative or positive situations, and individuals physical adaptation to the exercises such as Yoga, or Pilates. These mindful practices would not only stimulate their minds, but would increase their flexibility and muscle tone. Therefore comparing one physical improvement as well as their mental improvements will be possible on one assessment in comparing their ability after starting a new program to improve health and wellness. .

All in all if done properly there should be some psychological changes; they should be easily detected whether good or bad. Dealing and approaching situations that may be uncomfortable may change in how one may become more adaptable to different situations to help deal with them. Regular consultations should be scheduled monthly to evaluate a person's involvement or adaptation to these mindful practices.

Unit 8

Review the exercises and practice sessions you have completed in this course. (Loving Kindness, Subtle mind, Visualization, meditation etc.) Choose two practices that you have determined to be most beneficial. How can you implement these practices in your personal life to foster “mental fitness”? Provide specific examples.

 Hello everyone,
Loving kindness and Subtle mind of the to exercise and practices sessions that have been most beneficial. The loving-kindness exercise reminds me to remain positive no matter what the situation is. I've only done it twice but I remember those two times that I did go back and allow myself to release unwanted energy and fill with wanted energy there was a situation that I seem clearer in the outcome I think became better. The subtle mind practice I have not quite got and I think it is the second step which helps us to achieve is still mine so we can get to the final step of a pure awareness. I try to accomplish this doing my yoga classes; although I am the instructor I do truly concentrate in place myself as Mideast state from beginning and I become more relaxed into by the end of the class which I think is the, calm-abiding but the stillness of the mind I do not accomplish and I'm not certain it is because I him the instructor and I cannot hold lead give in or I am a control freak.

Implementing these practices in my personal life I could benefit from but it's good to take some time to capture its essence in its entirety. In my professional life if I can connect with my patients or students as far as exercise his concern in this manner and to teach them to connect with self I think it will benefit their stress that they feel to lose weight immediately and allow the magic to work in this progression.

Unit 7

1. Complete the Meeting Aesclepius mp3 (located in the Doc Sharing area). Describe your meditative practices for the week and discuss the experience. Explain how mindfulness or meditation has fostered an increase in your psychological or spiritual wellness. How can you continue to apply these practices in your life to foster greater health and wellness?

I enjoyed this exercise. It brought me closer to a mentor that I lost to death 4 years ago. Her wisdom was shared with many her siblings, her parents, nieces, nephews, grandchildren. Her wisdom was not just words or phrases remembered but a presence that was wanted and sought after. Becoming her though was a little stressful because I felt that any negative was protected within her. I remember being positive all time but I worried who would she share her concerns and question with.

2. Describe the saying: "One cannot lead another where one has not gone himself" (p.477). How does this apply to the health and wellness professional? Do you have an obligation to your clients to be developing your health psychologically, physically, and spiritually? Why or why not? How can you implement psychological and spiritual growth in your personal life?

... One cannot a"One cannot lead another where one has not gone himself" what does this mean to me?

Through the meaning of each word a lesson can be learned. How to walk the path of a rigorous route cannot be led by someone safely who has not done this route before. What is the difference? Through pure definition of words formulated into a sentence we can come to a meaning but that is all…. Keyword being taught in the rigorous routes that has been traveled before people are led through its, the leader undisputedly will be the one or should be the one who has walked this rigorous route before so getting to the end of the route may be a safer experience than being led by one who understands that the route is rigorous so it may be tough.

We definitely have an obligation to our clients to gain knowledge through experience throughout our career. It will create a connection that is understood and respected without words. All my life I have felt that in order for me to provide information on anything I should have gathered experience behind it. I'm not certain if the experience gathered in this field will be through deal with more clients in understanding their situations and death but in my everyday life I used these teaching tools regularly.

For me developing psychological and spiritual growth could be found in reading and materials are already closed cases. That didn't sound very good time soundest honest but hopefully there are books like and or health that can be sought after they can give us a clear explanation or more thought patterns and people are different situations.

Unit 6

Practice the universal Loving Kindness (meditation) exercise on p. 93.

As I began to repeat the phrases the first two initially one settling, but the more I repeated the phrases I begin to accept each word in the phrase and I think this may have changed my perspective adverse claims. As I went on I begin to become aware that the first two statements were also the last two statements but they differ and who would perform the acts. Meaning the individuals would have to help themselves first and then how could I help them do the same or reach the same goal. When I begin the exercise I was rushed and just felt like I had to get it done and then I begin to settle and really focus on the words that I was repeating. Pretty cool

Complete the Integral Assessment discussed in chapter 11 (p.115).

Describe the exercise and assessment process. What did you discover about yourself? What area have you chosen to be a focus of growth and development?

There are two levels of assessment the first level asked the question what aspects of my life – psychospiritual, biological, interpersonal, worldly – is the source of difficulty and suffering?

In my case I think is interpersonal flourishing – worldly into identified it independently it would be the day to day needs of interaction with one of my teenage sons. There is a discordant of communication with one of my sons. Through conative mainly, cognitive, and emotional development the motivation of patients when dealing with him needs work. So the breakdown of the source starts with instinctual, reactive, and ego centered. In my case reactive needs tremendous attention through becoming attentive and patient to ingest day-to-day dealings. So this is a start. The second level of assessment which you must return to re-center in stillness is shifting the focus on healing to a focus on promoting integral development not even at the steps of the yet in this situation.

What are some specific exercises or activities that you can implement to foster greater wellness in this area?

I can practice stillness before answering which I think will initiate patients in positive response. I could find a clichéd statement to repeat myself to remind me what my goals are with him. I think for now I can't think of anymore. I honestly think that if I put anymore my plate it will become a state of confusion and my focus would be misguided by too many directions.

It would be nice if we could always think in this frame of mind that it is harder to bring myself at a state of stillness when there are so many outside distractions such as finances, deaths, and illnesses, social distressed of the neighborhood etc. sometimes I'm so overwhelmed.

Unit 5

Hello everyone,

Loving kindness exercise I found that I was still aware of my surroundings and in the subtle mind exercise I was willing to subdue my entire self to the listening of the recording.

The loving kind of exercise I allow myself to find inner peace but it was a little difficult settling my mind because I had just finished discussing the situation with my 15-year-old son. It had both positive and negative reactions some I'm mind was definitely chattering million miles a minute. Once I was able to eliminate my running mind which was not coldly the water in this exercise some words kept me in tune with my situation some but I begin to gather my thoughts because I so wanted to relax and hope to see a different side once I was done with the exercise to the situation that I could not see this before. Needless to say it didn't work but I will try it again.

The subtle mind exercise I found myself wanting to relax I even allow my body to drift the store was floating. I wish the voice had changed and also that running water may be birds or wind in the trees leaves with something different. And now I'm speaking of it maybe I did not give them as much as I thought because I was conscious of the sound effects in the background. That just made me realize how difficult the subtle mind relaxation exercise may have been and that I did not achieve the goal I think was set out for me. Until next time.

Relaxation Exercise Unit 4

Ok.... I felt this time around would be different. I placed my head phones on and began to listen to the different practices with a willing and opened mind. Sense I had some sense of what to expect from the reading my curiosity filled my mind with excitement on how each practice would be delivered.

The first practice was easy and self-centered I feel asleep

The second practice I was able to connect and allow myself to embrace the moment and I found myself in another state or relaxation and I had a deeper sense of self awareness. Meaning - although I was relaxed I was aware of my body and it state of relaxation; I feel asleep

The third practice I was concerned and focused on the mind of my cousin dealing with breast cancer - I began to feel confused and wonder how this will help my loved one. I quickly began to can my composure as the commentator continues to coach me through how to minimize the concern or danger. I did not fall asleep and I did not reach total relaxation.

The fourth practice I feel asleep. So, this exercise was better for me this time around.
